From "emergency praline" to Christmas bestseller.
Three layers of brown gingerbread dough, sour cherry juice jelly and marzipan, covered by crisp dark chocolate - these are Dresden Marzipan Dominos from Dr. Quendt. A praline invented in 1936 by Dresden chocolatier Herbert Wendler and still made today according to the original recipe.
Dominos are a Christmas pastry with a fairly short history, but steadily growing in popularity, even beyond the borders of Germany. In the meantime, they are available in various designs, but only a few that are allowed to call themselves "finest dominos". A protected name that may only be used if the dominos are filled with real marzipan, like those from Dr. Quendt. Sour cherry juice jelly is also rarely found in a domino, but in combination with dark chocolate it is a speciality that is not often available on the market.
Up to now, Dr. Quendt Dresden marzipan dominos have been offered exclusively in a folding box containing 200 g of 15 dominos, ideal as a gift or for immediate consumption. In 2022, a new flowpack packaging will be added, also with 200 g and a packaging design adapted to the Dr. Quendt Dresden Christstollen.
