FOREWORD TO ISM 2025
by Konstantin Lebens, CEO of Genuport Trade GmbH
Standing strong together in turbulent times — a look ahead to the future of the confectionery industry
Dear Business Partners, Customers and Friends of the Confectionery Industry,
ISM 2025 falls in a year that is marked by extensive challenges and opportunities. We at Genuport are delighted to be a part once again of this major industry gathering, an event that not only celebrates innovations, but also serves as a seismograph tracking developments in the food and confectionery industry.
Global and national outlook: challenges and signposts
International trade relations are in a state of flux. Volatile price markets and geopolitical tensions, particularly between the USA, China and the EU, constantly trigger new challenges for enterprises. Germany, long an anchor of stability in the global economy, finds itself confronted by increasingly complex issues rooted in bureaucratic hurdles, rising production costs and administrative policies that are not always favourable for economic growth.
The hope is for a new government that will be forward-looking and business-friendly. These next few years will determine whether and how the general political conditions might improve with the aim of securing Germany’s position as a hub for innovation and trade.
The confectionery industry: innovation, adaptability and trends
The confectionery industry reflects the challenges of our time in a special way: from the effects of the raw materials markets to consumer behaviour and the growing emphasis on sustainability requirements. ISM impressively demonstrates how our industry remains loyal to its innovative strength in the face of these obstacles and repeatedly finds compelling and creative solutions.
ISM brings together international brands and offers an ideal platform for discovering trends and helping to shape the future of the food and confectionery world. Once again, Genuport is this year presenting a diverse portfolio reflecting the current spirit of the times: Tyrkisk Peber from Fazer is our response to the growing demand for intense flavour experiences, while the Aito oat drinks align with the trend towards plant-based milk alternatives and sustainable consumption. The product line is complemented by the Irish Shortbread Company, whose delicious shortbread variations offer moments of pleasure. As usual, we will also be presenting numerous new products from our brand partners of long standing.
Genuport: stability and reliability in dynamic times
Genuport stands as a solid rock, a reliable partner for our customers and business partners amidst the raging dynamics of this market environment. Thanks to our long years of experience and the broad base of our portfolio, we are able to grow even under challenging conditions and to guarantee a high delivery capacity. Our strength lies in our ability to recognise market trends at an early stage and react flexibly to them — be it through sustainable product innovations, optimised logistics solutions or strategic partnerships.
Looking back and looking forward: together into the future
In 2024, we celebrated our 75th company anniversary — an occasion not only to look back, but also to look forward with confidence. Our success story demonstrates that reliability, innovative strength and personal relationships are the pillars of long-term success. Our clear focus on quality, partnership and innovation will ensure the continuation of our position as a strong and reliable player on the market.
We at Genuport see not only major challenges, but also significant opportunities in our future. ISM 2025 is an outstanding platform for discussing these ideas for the future and finding inspiration for the coming years. Let us use this moment to learn from one another, grow together and set a common course for our sustainable success.
We look forward to welcoming you to our stand 10.2 D10/E11 and to stimulating discussions with you!
Best regards,
Konstantin Lebens
