Expert Stage

Every day, the ISM Expert Stage offered at the center boulevard between hall 5 and 10 a comprehensive programme of trend presentations and panel discussions on current topics in the confectionery and snacks industry.

In 2018, the market research institute Innova Market Insights once again provided information on new product trends and provided insights into the latest developments in confectionery and snacks.

You could expect the following trend presentations every day:

Consumers are more conscious than ever about making responsible food choices that are not only healthy, but also take sustainability into account. The leading trends driving this development in snacks and confectionery are “Mindful Choices,” “Lighter Enjoyment,” “Positively Processed” and “Going Full Circle”.*

Light foods & beverages are no longer the reserve of the dieter, as moderation is catalysed by millennials prioritizing high-quality and tasty food and beverages over excessive consumption of unhealthy foods. Lightness in sugar, lightly sweetened and salted, thin biscuit editions, as well as portion size is gaining momentum in confectionery and snacks as consumers continue to look for ways to eat and drink more healthily and light, yet still fully enjoy what they love.*

Variety and spread in the choice of authentic cuisine flavours from around the world will remain in the spotlight, focusing on ethnic and exotic options. Within the snacks and confectionery market this influence can be seen in the areas of ingredient origin for unique flavour profile and more exotic spicier flavours, such as Wasabi, Jalapeno or Sweet Thai Chili.*
