Coffee & co. meet chocolate and biscuits

Coffee, tea and cocoa have been an integral part of the trade fair concept since 2015. The delicious hot drinks had been awarded their own section, the Cologne Coffee Forum, in Hall 5.2 for ISM 2017. The visitors had the opportunity to sample and order various specialities here.

Cologne Coffee Forum

In cooperation with the Gruppo Cimbali and Koelnmesse, the Italian Espresso National Institute (Inei) held the international barista competition “Espresso Italiano Champion” for the first time in Germany. The competition took place on 31 January 2017 at ISM’s Cologne Coffee Forum.

The winner of the competition is Carlo G.B., who discovered his passion for coffee at a part time job during his law studies. Later, he turned his passion into a career and has become a coffee-roaster at Cologne’s oldest roasteries.

In October 2017, Carlo will be able to prove his talent in the international semi-final of the “Espresso Italiano Champion” in Milan.

Espresso Italiano Champion

The qualification round of the Espresso Italiano Champion, the only barista competition focused exclusively on Italian espresso and cappuccino organized by the Italian Espresso National Institute (Inei).

Espresso seminars

The IIAC International Institute of Coffee is dedicated to sensory evaluation of espresso, perfecting a specific tasting method. Under the direction of its experts, the visitors could experience and taste what distinguishes a genuine Italian espresso.

Latte Art workshop

In our compact workshop, a trainer from the Italian Barista School in Brescia showed how to whip small works of art on the cappuccino and thus impress your guests!
